Smash plates to relieve stress

I often feel destructive when I am really really angry. The farthest I have gone is tearing sheets of paper. I was watching Pretty little liars where Hanna's mom takes her to a place where she could throw plates in order to relieve her breakup anger. First of all, SUCH A COOL MOM!! Second, I had no clue such places existed!

I Googled to check the existence of a place that allows you to break dishes to feel better. I was surprised to see, they did exist! This is a 5 year old news link about a place called Sarah's smash shack, San Diego.

After further reading, I found out that plates smashing is a Greek tradition observed during a celebration. This was adopted in Greek restaurants earlier. However a modern twist has been given to this tradition and is being used at Smash Shacks. I couldn't find any place like this in India. But with the growing IT industry(or any other stress inducing field) stress, the smash industry would be a smashing success in cities of developing countries.

Have you heard of this Greek tradition? Do you like the idea of it?

Thanks for reading,
XO Ayesha

  4. I didn´t here before about this Greek tradition, but this is interesting! And I think really it helps to smash plates if one is angry! I have to admit that I´m throwing with things when I´m really angry but I try to use soft things like a mustard tube ;)

  6. I know some people who smash things up when they are angry. The furthest I have gone was kick our rubbish bin, which I spend half an hour fixing the next day and, unfortunately, it does look like someone had a go at it… :)
