In desperate need for fitspiration

Ever since I left for North India, I have been guilty of
  • Not eating right
  • Not exercising
  • Not caring about my ever increasing waistline
And after I came back I have been enjoying a hell lot! Which in my words, means eating a lot! It is Saturday night, and I just had a meal in Pizza hut, an I'm feeling awfully guilty about how my food habits have gone boom!! Blasted off into nowhere! Forgive me for going all dramatic, but I'm actually glad this happened before any major changes took place on the scale.

So here I'm thinking about how I can revert to being careful of my exercise routines and green tea! What I'm looking for, is not to lose 2 or 5 pounds, but for a lifestyle change. I know that I cant stop eating junk, unfortunately. But I also need to take steps for nullifying the effects of that junk. And hopefully going the 80-20(or 60-40) way. Anyway, so guess what I turn to for help for? PINTEREST! Well its true that I Google most things. From books to celebrities. But when it comes to clothes, food and fitness, Its pinterest! To check out my pinterest fitness page, click here.

My things to do list for tomorrow

1. Drink a glass of lemon water as soon as I wake up.

2.  An hour of Zumba Exhilarate.

3. Have green tea and salads. I last had green tea 4 days back. So its really weird. Before that I was having it everyday.

A half century + a lot of madness

Today, I complete my 50th post. I'm so excited! I feel so encouraged to write. I want to write more and more.

And today was a fun day, and I have to write about it! My friends and I were a bunch of lunatics and we did everything to prove that we were. It started with hopping on to a bus and shouting to each other from different seats when we couldn't sit together. When we did get to sit together, we were completely successful in making people around us uncomfortable by our singing. From Ajeeb daastan to zindagi ek safar hai suhana, to raja ki aayegi baarat. I have to say though, we don't sound all that bad! We make good entertainers. But then again this comes from the mouth of the mad fellow, so you will probably have to get information from people around us.

We sat in Ice and Spice. And took like a gazillion pictures. But once our order arrived, we being foodies (almost) forgot about pictures(I mean, how could we have gone without taking pictures of the food). We are a bunch of loud lunatics, as I mentioned earlier. Funny thing is that somehow, always, one boy gets stuck with us girls. So when all this happens everyone gives him glares. No problem for us, right? *winks* Sorry Abhi!

food selection can take time, lot of time

steak!

cheese pasta

cottage cheese burger

pasta arabiatta

louve! SAmmy y u no in picture?

In spite of eating so much, after just a little gap, we were able to stuff in some dessert. And then pani puri! We just couldn't stop, could we? I guess we all love eating that much. I'm really going to have to spend hours in gym to burn off what I ate today.

All in all, a great day and we are all going to remember it.

Be thankful and smile!

How many times has someone done something nice for you and you forgot to say thank you? It has happened with me. In our busy lives we forget to acknowledge small things that people around us may do for us. That could be a stranger holding the door for us or our mother doing everything for us.
I say thank you whenever I remember to. But so many times, I have felt that I have been unmindful of what people do for me . Small things have gone unnoticed, unintentionally. Gratitude and a smile can make even the most angry ones melt. And make sure to smile like you mean it. Life will become really easy if we take notice of the little things in life. And if you are thankful, people may just be more than willing to do something for you again. Finally what clothes you wear, what make up you put on, what jeweleries you wear, remain secondary to your smile.

Books and Ice cream

Hello, there!

I'm feeling silly. Because I have tests in two subjects tomorrow. And here I am typing out a post! Generally I would wait for my brother to cut up a slice of ice cream and serve it to me in a bowl but I guess its during exams when you're the most jobless?! But anyhow, I was taking a break so I decided to chop up almonds and cashews and sprinkle it on our ice cream. Nothing new, I know, but man it is Yumm! Chocolate Ice cream rocks!!

I'd like to thank Karla for inviting me to her Party!
Do visit her blog party here! Its awesome!

How to take care of imitation jewellery

I love fake jewellery! Why?
Because- I can buy as many as I want to match with whatever I have and I can get a lot more options than with gold and silver.

The only problem with fake stuff is that they get spoiled a lot quicker than the real ones. But if they are taken care of, they can last much longer than usual(Thank God ). I have had some stuff since I was 12! I am an Earring obsessed girl. I have over a 100 pairs of earrings preserved since back then.

So these are the ways I make my jewellery last long

Keep them in glass/plastic/cardboard boxes.

If they look weaker than others, Keep em in separate tiny zipper bags and then keep them inside the boxes.

You can use nail polish(clear/gold/silver) to revive dull looking jewellery

Do not spray deodorant or perfume on self after wearing the jeweller. It will react with the outer layer of jewellery, irritate your skin and spoil the jewellery

Do not leave it out for long. Dust particles can settle in parts of jewellery which are hard to clean.

You may or may not use solutions depending on the quality of jewellery.

What do you do to keep your artificial jewellery fresh looking? Comment below and enlighten me!

Happiness from the inside

Yes, I know that I spoke about rejection in my last post. But friendship is such a huge thing that, rejection from a company seems silly when you have your friends. I had a hugely awesome day, today. I spent the day at home with my two very very close friends. And the evening with one of my oldest and closest friends! We poured our hearts to each other. We were meeting after months. She is working in Fidelity and I'm still a student. She is two years elder to me. Over food and stuff we managed to tell each other so many details of our lives that we had missed out on. We are the kind of friends who stay without talking to each other for months but when we talk, its as though we never stopped. We didn't really take pictures today. But, If we had I could have showed how happy were to spend time with each other. It is a great feeling to talk to your friends. I'm really lucky to have friends who I can rely on and be sure that no matter what happens I will never lose them!

Rejection is not so bad

Today, I went for placements. We had our first round, written round. A tier 1 company. I went without really working for it. I guess many people who went today did. We all thought that since the toppers are not placed yet how are we expecting to get. And that we would go try out the test, check out what kind of questions should we be prepared for in the future, and if luck favored get through the first round. But luck favors only those who work for it. After feeling bad about it for a few minutes I decided there was no reason for it. I hadn't worked for it. It wasn't mine to begin with. If by chance I got through the first round, there was no way I would have got through the interviews with the kind of preparations I had. It has given me a chance and a reason to work for the other companies that come in the future. If I hadn't gone today, I probably wouldn't have realized where I am.

Ugh nail paint!

I see fancy manicures on pinterest and they are so gorgeous that I want to try them out. But I have a confession to make. I am really bad with nail paint! And this was the reason I didn't apply any for a long time. Yesterday, I took out some and applied it. 2 coats, simple nothing fancy. I had seen a tip on pinterest, where you can dry your nail using cold water. And I used that. But seriously! within 20 minutes this happened:
Sickness!!!
And then I was reminded of why I don't like nail paint even though I love it sooo much!!!

Its ridiculous how I can be so bad at something that is generally so trivial to girls. And this is why I prefer to stay without nail paint.

Have you had any terrible experience with make up?

M.I.A.

It feels so good to just start typing a post. Why have I been missing for this long? Turns out that the internet dongle that my dad uses takes a million years to load a page. So I was left internet-less in places that had so much to be written about. And these are the places:

Kolkata - Howra Bridge
I was at Kolkata twice in these 10 days. This photo was taken from the Howra railway station. I just couldn't resist putting this up. I had another picture with just the Howra bridge. But Kolkata wouldn't be Kolkata without its yellow Ambassador taxis. One of the taxis we got into was from 1965. Super old.
It took us 2 hours to go to my Grand aunt's place from the Airport. In those 2 hours I got to see the poor localities and the posh locality as well. It's really sad how there is such a disparity in India.
I visited Chowringhee market. It is great for roadside shopping. I got 3 bags for Rs. 450. I bought many other cools things too.

From Kolkata, we took the train to Jamshedpur, the first planned industrial city in India. It is also known as Tatanagar or Steel city. I was visiting my Aunt and Uncle there.
The next picture was taken on the way to Patna from Jamshedpur.

At Patna, I visited my Grandmother. I also visited the college where my dad studied. It is Patna Engineering college, now NIT, Patna. Really nice campus. pretty place. I took this photo from the administrative block.

NIT, Patna

Ramadan Feast

Along with all the fasting and hunger that we go through during the days of Ramadan, many evenings are followed by humongous feasts. The best part of this month is the evening meal. Various fried items, dates, the traditional chana (gram)- chooda(rice flakes), fruit salads, vegetable salads, rooh-afza sherbet, and lime juice. All of these together make up the feast of Ramadan. Fasting the entire day gives a person liberty to indulge in all the unhealthy items on the table. I'm not sure if that is a good idea if you want to lose weight.
My entire goal during Ramadan has been portion control. It is easy to get carried away, but its always sensible not to! I have lost 1kg during this period. And here's what I've done.

  • Morning: Have 2 parathas and 1 cup coffee, Along with b-complex capsule or sea cod liver capsule, 2 glasses of water
  • No food, No water entire day
  • Evening: A little bit of everything, no juice only lemon water, cold coffee for the instant energy
  • Night: Vegetable salad, green tea
  • Loads of water the entire evening, to my self from dehydrating

Dive into spirituality!

It was 10 am when we decided we were going to the ISCKON temple. We crazy people make such plans at the last minute and still manage to pull it off, God knows how. Anyway so this plan did involve god, so I'm guessing that was why we were able to pull it off. Before you wonder, ISCKON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple is a huge cultural complex inaugurated in 1997 to carry out the vision of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acarya of ISKCON to promote Vedic culture and spiritual learning. The Radha Krishna shrine is the main attraction in the temple. The beauty of the temple lies in the gold-plated dwajastambha and kalash shikara.
There are also shops under the temple which sell various items related to Krishna like the Bhagvad Gita, pictures of Krishna with yashoda maiyya, and gopiyan and Radha. Sweet lovers have option of buying delicious sweets from the sweet shop.

A little about Krishna

Krishna is the 8th incarnation of supreme God Vishnu in Hinduism. He was born by divine "mental transmission" from the mind of Vasudeva into the womb of Devaki. His Uncle, Kans had received a prophesy that Devakis 8th child would be the reason for his death. And due to that he killed 6 of their children soon after their birth. Upon the birth of Krishna, Vasudeva transfered him to Gokula where he was to be raised by Yasodha and Nanda.
During his youth, he is said to have fallen in love with Radha.
After he overthrows his uncle from the throne, he reinstates Ugrasena as the king of Yadavas. He also played a major role in Mahabharat.

My experience there
  • We got there just in time for the darshana(Seeing the god).

  • We had to remove our shoes and place it in a bag and hand it over at the shoe counter
  • We gave our bags at the bags counter
  • Went into the temple, where we saw the god's deity sat in the prayer hall
  • We felt immense peace in the hall. We sat there for about 15min. It was a moment of satisfaction and peace
  • We took the holy water and put it on our head. My friends drank it
  • We went into the commercial center, where all the items related to Krishna were being sold
  • Moving past all that, there was sweets and food shops. My friends ate there
  • We got out and clicked pictures

  • Took the bus back home
I would say that if you get a chance, do visit this temple. It is beautiful and divine.
