A little something on time and destiny

My friend and I were talking yesterday. She is a little elder to me and I always look up to her for support and advice. And she always happens to say the right things. Most of the times, things that I want to hear. Its amazing. She told me this one thing yesterday.

"Everybody's story has been written in a certain way. If you ever feel weak think about that and work hard."

The feeling before and after the last exam

4 hours Before:
You are sitting in one place, holding your head. Aiming the book at angles to your eyes for just the right absorption.
Since you decided to ignore your mother on her attempts to make you study, you have to finish the entire syllabus in those few hours.
You have already had a cup of coffee and you are on your way to finishing your energy drink.
Your friend comes in and announces that she hasn't finished her subject either. She sits down and starts cramming next to you.
Another friend who does share the subject with you shows up and you start studying together with the hope that whatever you study is asked in the exam.

Exam:
3 hours swish past like minutes. At the moment, all you think appears on the paper. Some of it from the book, some from your imaginations.

After the exam:

It doesn't matter what came for the exam and what didn't. It doesn't matter what you wrote. All that matters is that its over. And it feels like a burden is lifted off the head. It doesn't matter that you have to get back to studying for something else the next day. All that matters is that, at the time you are free.

Healthy criticism is good!

I published my first post on the 5th of June. Its been over 6 months. While I could have done better, I think owing to how busy my life has been in the last 6 months, I did pretty Ok. But this isn't the end of it. With your support I have been able to publish 82 posts and this is my 83rd one. I want to do better. I read "Your opinion matters" on the blog What Kenny Hearts by Kenny Manalad. I realized that there is no better way to find out where you are lacking than asking the people who read it. And that is you!

Please provide healthy criticism to my blog. Advise me on the layout, my language, or anything else that you'd like to be different. Also if I have done a good job please do tell me. Everybody likes appraisal.

Thanks!

Anybody with a phone! Improve your phones battery life!

Cell phones have become such an important part of our lives that going with them for even an hour or two seems impossible. And those times when you get down to one bar remaining, are the toughest times ever!

How many times a day do you charge your phone? I've seen my friends do it 2-3 times. And I find it really amusing how their battery dies so fast. Well, here are some tips that you can use to make your battery last longer!

2 AM music

You know one of those songs that you listen to, and you don't know how you can ever relate to it, or if you ever can, but you just feel like swaying your hips and your hear to the melody and the voice!?

This is definitely one of them for me.

Its a song from a recent Bollywood release, Ram-Leela. I don't want to get into the story, how much ever I'd love to. But this song is one sensual song. And trust me on this, you can do all your pilates moves on this song.

Here is a video. Do watch it. Even if you don't understand the lyrics, its great eye candy. Both the actors are looking really good!

So, I am sitting here, listening to this song, on repeat, and I think may be others would like it too.

I hope you do!

Thanks for reading,

An ode to handwritten letters

When was the last time you wrote a letter to your loved one? And by wrote, I mean actually use a pen, and fill a paper made from a tree bark with words that matter!

Handwritten letters are losing their charm. People communicate through texts, Whatsapp, facebook, and all the means that can be used over wireless. Of course these means are faster and cheaper than the previous but don't you think when you are writing a letter, there you are putting so much more feelings in there. And, I'm not just saying love letters, although that would be great too. What I'm talking about a letter to your parents, to your friend, or anybody special, something that they can hold while they read it, where they can smell your scent vaguely. That they can keep with them forever.

I love handwritten letters. I feel that if you are writing a letter to me, you are giving a tiny piece of you to me. Some of my friends write mushy letters to me on certain occasions not. I love them.

So the message here that I'm trying to convey is that one should write letters. They are so personal and they convey so much more than an email or a text message. So start writing!

Movies by the years

source

I have silly little hobby.
I like to read celebrity and movies wikipedia pages.
I don't really read everything. But I like going through them.

So, a few things caught my attention while I was going through a couple of pages from the time of wizard of oz and gone with the wind and then psycho and so on.

The first thing that caught my attention was that how many of these scripts were adapted/copied to make slightly more current movies, even Hindi!

3 flicks to watch for a good feeling

Everyone has their miserable times, and so do I. As I've mentioned in a post earlier, I sometimes like to watch movies to evade the happenings of my life. When I watch a movie, I expect it to make me feel better about the system, life, and even myself sometimes. Although these movies can't take sadness away, they can definitely make you forget it for a while.

1. Its a wonderful life:

Festy weekend: Friend's birthday, Maaya and pre-Diwali dinners

This weekend was mainly dedicated to celebrations. There are times when you don't need a reason to celebrate. This weekend wasn't one of those times. We had all the reasons and the resources to celebrate like maniacs.

New glasses

My spectacle power hasn't increased one bit (thank god!). But I had totally spoiled and scratched my spectacle lens and broken that little thing which sits on the nose aka nosepad. In short, I had all the reasons to buy new glasses.

A tour through my habitat

Hello all, I've been meaning to do this post ever since my room was done 2 months ago. And finally, its here! I've been living in this room since I was 12. But until very recently I was sharing it with my brother (so silly, right?). Finally when these two rooms were renovated(which took 2 months) my brother moved to that room, and I got this pretty, big room all to myself! It was hard to capture the entire room in one picture. So I've got different sections in different pictures right below.

Bakrid mubarak!

India is one of places where you can have festivals on (almost) consecutive days. We celebrated Durga puja/dussera on Sunday & Monday and then Bakrid on Wednesday. So many cultures and so many traditions coincide to make our country, India.

Some Durga Puja fun!

Hello all! I haven't been this relaxed in months! The last three days have been nothing but means to escape reality. So all I have done is reeelaaax! And that in my world means watching tons on TV episodes, sleeping and roaming. It was dussera/navratri/durga puja the past week and that meant fun! My friend had invited us to a gathering near his place.

No Mess Gym Hair

I want to talk about this hair-do because:

  • Its simple and quick
  • It keeps hair together and away from skin(to a huge extent)
  • It looks more acceptable that hair stuck to face!

Once upon a time...

Okay, so I am not starting a fairy tale. Most of you must have heard of once upon a time, the TV show! Its about fairy tale characters in the "real" world. The third season just came out this week, and it was bigger and better than before and I thought I must do a post on it! The main highlight of the show was Henry, who apparently has a heart of a true believer and Pan wants him because of that. And two of his mothers, grand fathers, a grand mother and a pirate are all out to save him from "Neverland"

Okay so I have put down my favorite shots below.

While they all fight the storm, in order to reach the island so as to find Henry

Regina is the only one who has the mind to use her magic in their aid. Regina is my favourite character, and if you are wondering why, then I can tell you. She is brave, smart, young, and even though she has a negative character in the show, when it comes to her son, she is ready to cross all limits to come to his resque.

This scene was really cute. Mulan asked Neil to think of Emma and not a place. And all I could think of was.. LOVE!

The heart of the true believer manages to fly,but to whom? To the boy he has been running from all along? And what's going to happen in the next episode? Will they manage to save him!?

Hope you liked this post,

I'm back, I hope!

I come online everyday, and I want to write posts. But I can't! The past two weeks have been so hectic, so stressful and so negative, I thought Its better to just not write. But, I have realised, that just gets me more frustrated. Funny thing is, I have two half written posts lying in my drafts waiting to be completed and published. And I really need to do that! 2 weeks is the longest I haven't written since I started. Also the whole diet plan didn't work this time because of all the anxiety. In case you are wondering what stress. Well, placement stress, tests stress, ATTENDANCE stress! Its all too much. I really need to get my shit together and chill and work hard towards my goals. At the same time I need to write posts to relax and stay happy even when there is no reason to be!

Trying to snap out of being a procrastinator

Back in the days, I wrote an exam which asked for the synonym for procrastination. I didn't know. Its ironic how time taught me the meaning and practicality of the word!

Here I am, years later, writing about procrastination in hopes of being able to learn from what I read! From my own experiences, I can only teach a person on how to procrastinate better. I always find reasons and means to do it. Sometimes I feel I should make a few bucks out of it. Alas! Nobody really gives money to a person for such a habit. Hence, it is more than important to find ways to not.

Here's an observation. You procrastinate only what you don't enjoy doing. Sometimes, you might like doing something, but you don't like the way its done. And blah blah. If that thing is important for your growth or wellbeing, it is at most important to like it. In one way or another. And if that is not possible, you could really think of putting it off forever and switching to something else. I'd like to give an example from my own experience. I never procrastinate on activities I really enjoy. I love going out. Even if it is for the boring groceries. I guess this could be one reason I am my parent's only favorite child. Haha! Just kidding. I'm trying to find ways that I can procrastinate on my work lesser and try to enjoy it.

From now on, I'd like to spend time working rather than thinking about it. This is probably the time to put down a cliché like time and tides wait for none, or Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. But writing these will not help me until I really start digesting it and doing the right thing.

In desperate need for fitspiration

Ever since I left for North India, I have been guilty of
  • Not eating right
  • Not exercising
  • Not caring about my ever increasing waistline
And after I came back I have been enjoying a hell lot! Which in my words, means eating a lot! It is Saturday night, and I just had a meal in Pizza hut, an I'm feeling awfully guilty about how my food habits have gone boom!! Blasted off into nowhere! Forgive me for going all dramatic, but I'm actually glad this happened before any major changes took place on the scale.

So here I'm thinking about how I can revert to being careful of my exercise routines and green tea! What I'm looking for, is not to lose 2 or 5 pounds, but for a lifestyle change. I know that I cant stop eating junk, unfortunately. But I also need to take steps for nullifying the effects of that junk. And hopefully going the 80-20(or 60-40) way. Anyway, so guess what I turn to for help for? PINTEREST! Well its true that I Google most things. From books to celebrities. But when it comes to clothes, food and fitness, Its pinterest! To check out my pinterest fitness page, click here.

My things to do list for tomorrow

1. Drink a glass of lemon water as soon as I wake up.
source: http://www.outofstress.com/lemon-water-lose-weight/

2.  An hour of Zumba Exhilarate.

3. Have green tea and salads. I last had green tea 4 days back. So its really weird. Before that I was having it everyday.

If you want a simple way of making green tea, click here .

Recipe for this salad can be found here
